Uncle Wiggily Longears, a rabbit gentleman, is surprised to find his housekeeper, Nurse Jane, preparing an abundance of cakes, pies, and jam tarts. These treats are for a play party for Baby Bunty, a little rabbit girl who has been well-behaved. Uncle Wiggily is relieved, thinking the party will allow him to rest without being asked to play games. However, Nurse Jane insists he attend the party briefly to be polite. Baby Bunty is thrilled about the party and invites her animal friends, including Sammie and Susie Littletail, Johnnie and Billie Bushytail, and Lulu, Alice, and Jimmie Wibblewobble. Uncle Wiggily, wearing his best red vest, is asked to sing a song, which he does, amusing the children with a tune about a carrot. As the party progresses, Uncle Wiggily attempts to relax and nap, but Baby Bunty repeatedly calls on him to pass food to the guests. Despite his efforts to rest, he is continually interrupted. Eventually, Baby Bunty announces the arrival of grasshopper and cricket musicians, who play for the children to dance. Uncle Wiggily, realizing he cannot sleep, joins in the fun, acknowledging that no one could grow old or stiff at such a lively party.
