Uncle Wiggily, an elderly rabbit with rheumatism, agrees to accompany Baby Bunty, a young rabbit girl, on a walk through the woods. Despite his stiffness, he is charmed by Bunty's playful spirit. Bunty, wearing her best hair ribbon, is determined to keep Uncle Wiggily lively and engaged. As they journey, Bunty's ribbon repeatedly comes untied, prompting Uncle Wiggily to fix it each time. They find a pleasant spot in the woods where Bunty can play, and Uncle Wiggily decides to rest. Bunty, wanting to keep him awake, continues to untie her ribbon, calling for his help. Eventually, she alerts him to the presence of a fox, allowing them to escape safely. The story highlights themes of companionship, playfulness, and the importance of staying alert.
