Violet Jacob (1863-1946) was a Scottish poet and novelist. She was born in Forfar, Scotland, and was educated at the University of St Andrews. She wrote several novels, including The Rival Claimants (1902), The House of the Peacock (1910), and The White Dove (1913). Her poetry collections include The Dowie Dens o' Yarrow (1902) and The Lilt and Other Poems (1909). Her work was heavily influenced by the Scottish folk tradition, and she was a major figure in the Scottish literary revival of the early 20th century. She was also a strong advocate for women's rights and was a member of the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies.
