Agnes Repplier (1855–1950) was an American essayist known for her wit and polished style. Born in Philadelphia, she was largely self-educated and began her writing career in the late 19th century. Repplier contributed essays to various magazines, including The Atlantic Monthly and Harper's Magazine. Her works often focused on literature, culture, and social commentary. She published several essay collections, such as "Books and Men" (1888) and "In the Dozy Hours" (1894). Repplier was a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and received numerous honorary degrees.
