Emily Dickinson
Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) was an American poet who wrote over 1,800 poems during her lifetime. She was born in Amherst, Massachusetts, and lived a reclusive life, rarely leaving her home. Her poems are known for their use of slant rhyme, unconventional punctuation, and vivid imagery. Dickinson's work was largely unknown until after her death, when her sister Lavinia discovered her manuscripts and published them. Her work has since been widely praised for its insight into the human experience and its innovative use of language.
