Zane Grey (1872-1939) was an American author best known for his popular adventure novels and stories associated with the Western genre in literature and the arts. He wrote more than 90 books, some of which have been adapted into films and television shows. Grey's most popular book was Riders of the Purple Sage, published in 1912. He also wrote many non-fiction books about fishing and hunting. Grey was one of the first authors to introduce the Western genre to literature, and his books were widely read in the early 20th century. He was also a passionate angler and conservationist.
