Hilda Doolittle (1886-1961) was an American poet, novelist, and memoirist. She was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and was a member of the Imagist movement. She was also a member of the avant-garde literary group known as the "Vorticists." Her work was heavily influenced by her interest in classical mythology and her own personal experiences. She wrote several volumes of poetry, including Sea Garden (1916), Heliodora and Other Poems (1924), and Red Roses for Bronze (1931). She also wrote two novels, Palimpsest (1926) and Bid Me to Live (1960). Her memoir, Asphodel (1992), was published posthumously.
